Try and set your car up with as little steering as possible and still be able to manuever your car comfortably thru traffic and thru the turns. Not only will this help you to trust your car, it will eliminate a lot of wasted power that is usually scuffed off from the tires being turned to sharply! It is a fact that a smoother rolling car is always faster!

Keep a set of ride height blocks handy for making those all important adjustments! Making a simple tire change WILL definitely affect your entire set-up if the ride height is not kept the same! Keeping your car as low to the ground without it bottoming out is best!

Buy yourself a digital temp gun of some sort. ALWAYS check the temps of your tires after EVERY run. Try and maintain temps within 10 degrees from inside of tire to outside of tire! This will tell you if your camber settings are close or way off and it will also keep you from buying tires when not necessary!

Keep an eye on your body mounts! A loose or floppy body will make your car not handle good and your set-up will be good for nothing! With fenders rubbing and attacks from the outer walls, a body can become loose or torn from the mounting points and once it moves or becomes dislodged, your set-up is usually lost !

Keep an eye on the rear spoiler. It DOES work and plays an important part of the set-up but like a sore thumb, it sits right up in the open where it can be damaged. Without it in the proper location and at the proper angle, it WON'T work no matter how many adjustments you make!

Clean your motor! Use compressed air to clean around the carb linkage and in and around the cyl. head cooling fins. These fins need air to cool the motor. A hot motor wil run poorly! Dirty linkages will work slowly and cause you to replace servos which, now a days can mean big bucks!

ALWAYS keep a check on your heim joints! Clean them regulary and lightly oil them so they won't bind. You can fight a set-up forever due to a dirty or bent heim joint. Catch them before the race! You'll be happy you did!

Keep your gears clean! Rubber that has been built up is constantly coming off the track and from your own tires. It will build up on your gears without notice. If this happens, your belt could become stretched or even break! A small pic will do the job easily! Another good tip for making your belts last longer is to lightly spray it with "Remington" gun oil. (lightly) Don't run your belt too tight or too loose. You want about 1/2-3/4 inch play up and down. Too tight will put a strain on your clutch bearings and too loose will cause the belt to slip and eventually break, not to mention wear out your gears!

NEW idea is to put a small rubber plug or disc about the diameter of a pencil eraser under every other cylinder fin on your motor. Your motor causes many noises you and I can't hear and the spacing between each cylinder fin acts like a tuning fork which cause harmonics! This could be bad for radio interference and or vibrations. We all know both of these are not good when it comes to R/C racing so a good cheap do it yourself tip is to install these under every other fin! Cost is very little and if you lose one or more, they are easily replaced!
